Proverbs 18:10

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

My Strong Tower woke me up today to talk to me.

Have you ever woke up on a quiet morning and couldn’t go back to sleep? It may be because God is calling your name. There are some places where God wants to be your Strong Tower.  He wants to be everything to you that matters. I researched this place where God becomes Mig-dal -Oz unto Jacob, one of His servants. The strength found in God’s name here is amazing. God changes Jacob’s identity. It’s the place where God changes Jacob’s name.

I love the words to this song because it takes us above ourselves and our situation. The place where He Helps us to see His potential to keep us secure. To forever change our identity.

I will bless the Lord forever

I will trust Him at all times

He has delivered me from all fear

He has set my feet upon a rock

I will not be moved…

Whom have I in heaven but You

There’s none I desire beside You

You have made me glad

And I’ll say of the Lord

You are my shield, my strength

My portion, deliverer

My shelter, strong tower

My very present help in time of need.

I read a devotional I have been reading and studying for the past year called : Praying the Names of God, by Ann Spangler. Ann asks in her  writings – ” How would your life be different if you were able to  take shelter under the wings of  God? I answered in one sentence:“There would be no threat. I’d find rest in the shelter of who God is. Selah.”

How would you answer this question? God’s wings are pretty large, I imagine. The comfort there…. unimaginable, I’m sure. I tried to get a visual and I could only imagine it must be like living in another world. But you know, in all honesty - that’s what living for God feels like sometimes. It  feels like you are living  in a dream. The absence of fear is possible, though sometimes hard to imagine. God longs to be my very present help. Very present help is right there and available all the time. Never wavering… always present. That’s God. Listen to this meditation today, and focus on His AVAILABLITY  today. Make sure you aren’t missing something about the ability of God to be right there… no matter how bad it gets. Hide under His wings and trust today. Selah. Spend some time in Psalm 91 and let God show you how safe you are under His wings.
